25 Fascinating Facts You Might Not Know About “Friends”
1. In 1993, Matthew Perry pitched NBC a sitcom he had co-written about a group of twentysomethings called Maxwell’s House. The network turned him down because they already had a similar TV show, Friends, in the works.
2. Before settling on Friends, other titles producers considered were Friends Like Us, Six of One, Across the Hall, Once Upon a Time in the West Village, and Insomnia Cafe.
3. Originally the show was going to focus on just four characters: Monica, Ross, Rachel, and Joey. Phoebe and Chandler were going to be supporting characters.

9. The iconic orange couch in Central Perk was found by a set designer in the basement of the Warner Bros. Studios.
10. In the first couple of episodes, Monica and Rachel’s apartment number was No. 5. This was changed in later episodes to No. 20 because the producers noted that 5 corresponded to an apartment on lower floor.
Chandler and Joey’s apartment number was originally No. 4 and was changed No. 19 to reflect the change to Monica and Rachel’s apartment number.
11. “I’ll Be There for You” was co-written by Friends producers David Crane and Marta Kauffman, along with Phil Solem and Danny Wilde, of The Rembrandts.

16. Jennifer Aniston has stated that she hated the now-iconic “Rachel” haircut.
In 2011 Jennifer told USA Today:
“Let’s say there have been moments I’d rather not relive, like that whole Rachel thing. I love Chris [McMillan, her hairstylist], and he’s the bane of my existence at the same time because he started that damn Rachel, which was not my best look. How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I’ve ever seen. What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs? Let’s just say I’m not a fan of short, layered cuts on me personally, so I don’t love revisiting that particular era.”
17. Courteney Cox was the only cast member not to get an Emmy nomination for her work on the show.
18. Reportedly, Christina Applegate was cast as Amy Green for the Season 9 Thanksgiving episode after Reese Witherspoon was unavailable to reprise her role as Jill Green.

While filming the movie The Whole Nine Yards, Matthew Perry made a bet with his co-star Willis that if the film were to open at No. 1 at the box office on its opening weekend, then Willis would have appear on Friends for free. (Willis was already scheduled to appear on the show.)
The movie opened at No. 1, and Willis donated the money he earned from Friends to charity.

Amazing Tattoo Cover-Ups
#12 A Bouquet Blooms
The floral bouquet used as a cover-up design is bold in size, and it certainly doesn’t show a hint of the old tattoo underneath! It could be that there’s more pigmentation to come in the future.
#11 The Prince who turned into a Frog
We can slightly see the old tat and name “Gene” in the new green area where frog sits, but this cover-up idea alone is brilliant .. you know it’s been flashed about to mutual friends!
#10 The Pharaoh
It makes sense to have the option to cover-up old tats because of fading and after they’ve grown out of favor. King Tut here is not only well done, but more exciting than what came before.
#9 Flora and Fauna revisited
Overall this new tat is a more balanced in color and design. It’s perfect when the old pigment has coloring that’s similar but lighter than the new.
#8 Incorporating an old design I
This is so clever! The old animal footprints really adds to the new tat and vice versa. The paisley elements are well done and almost look like fabric design. LOVE!
#7 No hint of “Justin”
She may have thought “Justin” would be “the one”, but fortunately his branding wasn’t permanent. “Justin” was covered and removed beautifully, just like in real life!
#6 Cover-up of a dark tattoo
The name, “Sparky” was done with dark ink, which makes it somewhat difficult to work with and cover-up. Although the results with the new tattoo turned out great!
#5 Day of the Dead revisited
We can’t see any trace of the old tattoo in the new cover-up! Perhaps parts of the old tat were lightened. Often “loading or packing white pigment” can lighten the old pigments by about 10%-30% after healing.
#4 The Hidden Dragon
Can you see the the tail of the old dragon within the new tattoo? It’s incorporated into the center of the circular green area.. that’s brilliant!
#3 A Butterfly become Animated
This is a perfect example of looking at an old tattoo and drawing a new one using shapes from the old design. The new Butterfly has much more character than the old.. you think?
#2 Flora not Fauna
This new cover-up is a impressively clean! There’s no hint of the old tattoo under the new one.. maybe there’s been some packing of white pigment.. Well one!
#1 Old Love Transformed
We wonder if the X-girlfriend had the chance to get a glimpse of the “new tat”.. it’s a statement that can’t be hidden! ..at least “Jennifer” is still smiling!
