Most of us have smartphones these days and when it comes to charging them, there are all sorts of myths out there… but how many of them are true?
Lithium-ion batteries, which you’ll find in most smartphones, should last between three and five years, if you take proper care of it.
So here’s the truth behind five major phone charging myths which should help you get the most out of your battery:

MYTH 1: You never need to turn your phone off.
The truth: To maximise battery life, it’s a good idea to give your phone a bit of a break occasionally, especially when you go to bed at night.
MYTH 2: Wait until your phone is completely dead before you charge it.
The truth: It’s actually best to charge your phone every day than to do a “deep charge” only once necessary.
MYTH 3: Using off-brand chargers damages batteries.
The truth: Original is best but off-brand chargers are fine as well, just be careful to avoid cheap imitation chargers.
MYTH 4: Charging your phone overnight kills the battery.
The truth: Once your phone is fully charged, it actually knows to stop, which means the battery isn’t being used at all after that point.
MYTH 5: While your phone charges you shouldn’t use it.
The truth: It’s fine to use it while your phone charges, as long as it’s not a knockoff charger which have been known to injure users.
