Chocolate Fudge Cake

This Chocolate Fudge Cake is so wonderful. It is so rich though, it’s hard to imagine why it needs icing LOL. And around our house, we always topped it with a whipped topping (cool whip). That seemed to calm down the richness.

Heck, you may only need one spoon to eat it (wink).

This serves 12 to 16.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 5 Tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

  1. Mix flour and sugar in a large bowl.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water, and cocoa over medium heat.
  3. Bring mixture to a boil and pour over the flour/sugar mixture. Mix well.
  4. Add eggs, buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla.
  5. Pour into a well-greased 9×13 pan, and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
